This panorama of Sanford Stadium, taken by Christopher Gjevre, captures a "Saturday in Athens" and ground zero for Georgia football fans, as they watch the Bulldogs score a touchdown "Between the Hedges." This phrase originated in the 1930's and refers to the Bulldogs playing between Sanford Stadium's famed privet hedges. Dedicated in 1929, Sanford Stadium's average home attendance has consistently ranked among the nation's top 10, with a seating capacity for 92,746 fans. The Bulldogs football program began in 1892 and has historically enjoyed tremendous success as part of the highly competitive Southeastern Conference.
